COMPANY DIRECTOR, NEIL MCHUGH, IS A QUALIFIED ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST (BA. MSC. OXFORD) WHO, SINCE GRADUATING IN 1987, HAS GAINED EXTENSIVE GEOTECHNICAL EXPERIENCE WORKING ON THE STAFF OF CONSULTING ENGINEERS AND GEOTECHNICAL CONTRACTORS IN THE UK AND NZ.

AVALON specialises in slope stability investigation and remediation in high and difficult access locations, including hazard and risk assessments. We carry professional indemnity insurance and offer a full consultancy service including interpretative reports and remedial designs. Our specialist abilities and knowledge are frequently drawn on by other consulting engineers for assistance with investigation and remedial contract specification.

COLLABORATION

Our site teams include a number of geotechnically trained staff and AVALON regularly works closely with many of New Zealand's major consulting engineers, local authorities, Damwatch, IGNS and other specialists.

We have systems and procedures which allow us to get our clients representative into most locations, using rope access, under our safety control. This enables our clients to fully meet HSE Act, OSH compliance and insurance obligations whilst allowing them to safely inspect slopes and rock faces at close quarters.
