SAFETY

AVALON HAS HAD INVOLVEMENT WITH VARIOUS INDUSTRY BODIES, OSH, STANDARDS NZ AND ITO'S. WE WERE ONE OF THE FOUNDER MEMBERS OF IRAANZ AND PUSHED FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE HIGHEST SAFETY STANDARDS AND WORKING PRACTICES IN OUR INDUSTRY.

We assisted OSH NZ by drafting the Industrial Rope Access section of the "Prevention of falls from a height" document (2000). We also had some input into the latest AS/NZS Standards for Industrial Roped Access and Fall Arrest systems.

INDUSTRIAL ROPE ACCESS TRAINING

The IRATA system has become the de-facto training standard for industrial rope access and height access safety. It was developed in the UK for use in the hazardous offshore oil industry. Tried and tested, this method has proved effective, with over 20,000 people worldwide having been trained to date.

We’re proud to include Steve Thomas on our staff, one of the initial (1991) group of IRATA Trainer / Assessors.

Avalon also recognises some other industrial rope access training schemes, including IRAANZ.

Safety is our priority.

SAFETY STANDARDS

All Avalon's operating procedures are in line NZ Legislation, AS/NZS Standards and OSH Guidelines. Avalon's safety record is excellent and we are committed to keeping it so.

Potential hazards are thoroughly identified:

  • 1) Prior to the job commencement.
  • 2) At a 'tool box talk' on site.
  • 3) Are continually assessed throughout contracts. This process is QA controlled and fully documented.

The de-facto international training standard for industrial roped access training has become the IRATA system, developed in the UK, initially for the offshore oil industry. This has been proved safe and effective with approximately 20,000 persons worldwide having been trained to date.

Our staff includes Steve Thomas, one of the initial (1991) group of IRATA Trainer/Assessors.

Fall Arrest

Nothing’s more worrying than the thought that you, your staff, or your customers are at risk from a dangerous fall. Avalon are trained fall arrest specialists, able to give you practical advice, and to design and implement secure systems to prevent falls.
